Conference Proceedings

On 23-24 April 2021, MGIMO University welcomed the participants of the international conference "Magic of Innovation" for the fifth time.

The pandemic, which lasted for a second year, made it necessary to adjust the format of the forum; its participants met in a new, but by then already familiar, online mode. It was therefore no coincidence that the conference was dedicated to changes in the language and language teaching caused mainly by the transition to different forms of distance learning.

The conference was organised by the English Language Department of the School of International Relations. The aim of the event was to discuss contemporary language processes, including those related to the pandemic era, as well as to evaluate the existing practices in language teaching and to outline ways of streamlining them in the light of the changing educational environment.

The Proceedings of the Conference present articles reflecting the themes of the Fifth International Conference " The Magic of Innovation: Outlook for linguistics and language teaching in the present context ", held at MGIMO University on 23-24 April 2002. The authors of the articles consider topical issues of linguistics, intercultural communication and language education, taking into account the transformations caused by changes in the modern educational environment. The Proceedings contain brief information about Russian and foreign scholars - authors of the articles and their contact details.

The Proceedings of the Conference is meant for researchers whose academic interests include theories of text and discourse, political communication, cognitive and pragmatic aspects of language and speech, linguocultural studies, language teaching, translation studies and didactics of translation, as well as teachers of foreign languages and area studies.
